I have the same issue. (I do not allow users to add computers to our domain.) Change the Find: drop down to "Computers". Oops, something's wrong below. I missed your post somehow but it was helpful albeit didnt answer the primary queston. You can also do just a gpresult /r and it will show what container it is in.

Do a domain sync (or wait for a full sync). I had the same issue and although I was an Administrator, I also could not see my machines once joined, but choosing to run as administrator let me see them.
