Microsoft needs to look at Windows 7 reconnection attempt commands for idle connection and see what signal is being sent to the resource to say wake up and reconnect me because I've also had a frustrating time with Windows 7 not connecting to the mapped drive on my Thecus NAS for my Genie Timeline backup. Frustrating. this is really easy to do, and simple and most improtantly it works. In WinObj you'll find the logon session devices in \Sessions\0\DosDevices\[logon ID]. It should detect itself when network is ready, then initate these things.
